Assimil Hungarian – Memrise
Several times I have heard a rumour that Hungarian language sounds ugly for those who don’t understand it. I would add that not surprisingly the Amazon. I haven’t thought that people want to learn Hungarian. While improving my Dutch and learning Russian, I discovered new stuff about my learning techniques and figured out that I could significantly improve my Hungarian knowledge using those new tools.
But I’ll be commuting into Prague once or twice a week for a teaching course that I want to take. I really like the sound of Hungarian.

Hungarians are usually happy and surprised to hear a few words from a foreigner and will want to hear more. For example, they have only 3 major tenses. Best Hungarian learning materials? Assimil Hungarian With Ease
After 3 years, I read very well and can aprticipate in normal conversations. They didn’t take up an offer last year from someone who said he would write ancient Greek lessons for LingQ. I didn’t find any other valuable source of teaching for Hungarian as it is a language that is not a favourite. There you can find a lot of written and spoken texts, hubgarian Hungarian too, with grammatical explanations and exercises see bottom of their homepage.
I’m actually probably not going to make much of an effort to learn Hungarian as I’m going to be very busy, and I may only be here a few months, but I’d still asskmil to know if anyone knows of any good beginner resources.
Kind of funny that you compare it to Russian, saying it’s 20 kg heavier. I watched a documentary on the Budapest uprising last night, and was reminded how cool and beautiful spoken Hungarian is. It’s so weird to read that the girl offers dollars to the man in the Italian, Swedish and other translations, when these countries have their own countries. If I get a chance to go back though, I’ll try to make a go of it. Also vowel harmony isn’t tough, the words just rhyme a little at the end: Of course I can not judge it.
