The service was good, and it was near my destination, but given the glut of restaurants available in London, I would choose a different place to eat if I had it to do over again.
Overall 2 food 3 service 1 ambience 4. Amongillado was lovely with classic dishes as well as some a little different. Food really delicious, with the exception of the mackerel dish.
Another highlight were the pork croquettes, light, crispy and cheesy. This man was a Grecian by birth, but who had given a kingdom in Spain. Ambience great, dimly lot. Amontillado has been aged first under a cap of flor yeast, and then is exposed to oxygen, which produces a ampntillado darker than Fino but lighter than Oloroso.
Really nice tapas, excellent service and great wine. Overall 5 food 5 service 4 ambience 5.
Barrica Sherry Week Special
O, after fermentation is complete, brarica base wines are fortified with grape spirit in order to increase their final alcohol content. The best way to enjoy it is in a bar, on the cool side, newly drawn from an oak barrel. All wines in this section are designed to be drunk within years varrica being made and contain no oak ageing apart from the last wine which has had 7 months in oak to smooth it out.
As they age in barrel, they develop a layer of flor—a yeast-like growth that helps protect the wine from excessive oxidation and those wines that are classified to undergo aging as Oloroso are fortified to reach an alcohol content of at least 17 per cent.
Classically it was served with a fine, or thin, soup, due to its oxidative ageing and preparation, amontillado is more stable amontilladi fino and may be stored for a few years before opening.
