Review: ‘Broken Republic’ by Arundhati Roy | Ceasefire Magazine
Written not merely for criticizing but to make a change. One person found this helpful. Reading it, I realized that democracy is not a panacea for all our ills, but just a tool to achieve a larger goal, that is welfare and equality for all and how governments after governments have deceived the people people of India as in the name of nationalism and patriotism, the state is really to quell all struggling voices.
The truth always hurts. But there are certain things we can’t avoid. The government has been unfair to many such people hence the need to write a book like this. Excellent book to know about the affairs of the govt working hand in glove with the business to exploit the tribals of this country.

And these same tribal people when they try to save brokfn land and lives from being taken over by the government they become” Maoists” in govt’s parlance. A must read for any idea as to who are Maoists. Arundhati Roy is one of few who dares to question the truth that is being presented to us This read will definitely question your understanding of the indian policy against so called naxalites and maoists and those who join them See all 41 reviews.
