A victim of a forced marriage herself, she tells her story and those of other British victims in her novel “Shame”, published by Hodd Jasvinder Sanghera is an activist and advocate for women’s rights who was born in Derby. I wanted to sympathise and feel sorry for the sanfhera.

This book, for me, is almost like the final journey.

I finished reading this book without sleeping whole night and a day. But for some women, and even for some men, this is a harsh reality and it needs to be talked about. As a child, I’d attended primary schools with a large number of ethnic minority children and that was just the way it was to me, there was nothing shme or unusual about it.

This book focuses on the need to support those for whom these cultural traditions are not welcome and are forced upon them by family members, friends, and the wider community. Strongly recommended for santhera having indian friends, to see how hard their life is or else could have been.
